EXPERIMENTAL STUDY AND ANALYSIS METHODS OF SLAGS FROM COPPER SMELTING IN OXYGEN-BLOWN FURNACES

Abstract

This study analyzes slags from oxygen-blown copper smelting, focusing on quenched samples taken during tapping. XRD, XRF, SEM-EDS, and wet chemical methods were used. Fine Cu₂S inclusions, fayalite, and magnetite were identified. Mechanically entrained copper was linked to the high-viscosity slag matrix. The findings help reduce copper losses and improve smelting efficiency.
